  • How Does the Process Work?

    Here’s how to apply to use the “PETA-Approved Vegan” logo:

    1. Complete the questionnaire and statement of assurance.
    2. Have your manufacturer(s) or supplier(s) complete a statement of assurance.
    3. The PETA Foundation will review your statements of assurance and questionnaire (which make up your application) and contact you if there are any questions.
    4. If your application is accepted, please pay the annual certification fee and execute a license agreement.
  • WHEN IS PAYMENT REQUIRED?

    Your company can submit the “PETA-Approved Vegan” annual certification fee at any time during the certification process.

  • How Much Is the Annual Certification Fee?

    The amount is determined by your company’s estimated annual revenue:

  • IS TESTING OUR PRODUCT TO VERIFY VEGAN STATUS REQUIRED?

    Testing is not a requirement for the certification process, but we do not discourage it. If your company is interested in vegan testing, we recommend the following facility:

  • HOW LONG DOES THE APPLICATION PROCESS TAKE?

    This varies, but it could be completed within a couple of days if the company has submitted all required materials. The factors affecting turnaround time are the number of suppliers and manufacturers and whether payment is wired.

  • ARE PROMOTIONS OFFERED?

    Promotions are not offered as part of the “PETA-Approved Vegan” certification. However, PETA does offer promotional benefits as part of the PETA Business Friends program.  You can find additional details about the PETA Business Friends program as well as instructions on joining here.

  • HOW DO I GET PLACEMENT WITH AN IMAGE ON THE “PETA-APPROVED VEGAN” WEBSITE?

    Companies listed at the top of our “PETA-Approved Vegan” website with an image also support our work as a PETA Business Friend.

  • WHAT PRODUCTS CAN THE LOGO BE APPLIED TO?

    Here are the types of items the logo can be used on:

    • Clothing and fashion items
    • Companion animal accessories
    • Fibers/materials
    • Footwear
    • Handbags
    • Home furnishings
    • Jewelry
    • Luggage
    • Sporting goods
    • Sunglasses
    • Wallets
    • Watches

    Note: If your company is seeking certification for cosmetics, personal-care products, or household cleaning products, please apply to PETA’s Global Beauty Without Bunnies program instead.

  • WHERE CAN THE LOGO BE APPLIED?

    Here are places where authorized companies can use the logo:

    • On products
    • On marketing materials and signage
    • On product labels, hangtags, and packaging
    • In brochures and other printed materials
    • On webpages where vegan items are listed
    • On social media channels
    • On trade show displays
    • In news releases
    • In commercials and promotional videos

    Authorized companies have a lot of autonomy in deciding how to use the logo—but it can be used to promote only vegan items, of course.

  • ARE CERTIFICATES OFFERED?

    Once a company is certified, we will provide a certificate upon request.

  • CAN OUR RETAILERS USE THE LOGO FOR OUR PRODUCTS?

    Yes, retailers may use the logo to highlight your company’s “PETA-Approved Vegan” products. It can be used on their website or in promotional materials (but, of course, solely for your company and its vegan products).

    If you’re a supplier, manufacturer, or distributer of raw materials or you’re selling a private label to a customer, the logo is nontransferable.

  • Which Company Conducts Fabric Tests?

    If your company wants to make sure a supplier or manufacturer is holding true to vegan standards, these laboratories are a good option to test your product.
